Hike, ride, cycle, 4×4… discover a timeless heritage!

You can’t go on vacation in the Gorges du Tarn without doing some hiking! These karstic gorges, some 50 km long (the longest in Europe!), are an exceptional open-air playground. This natural canyon, sculpted in the Jurassic era, is a spectacle of rocky chaos, sheer cliffs, mysterious caves, a river of turquoise waters, majestic cirques, straits and breathtaking gorges…

For those who like to take their time, this enchanting site is overflowing with natural wonders. Do you love bucolic villages frozen in time? Vertiginous landscapes and breathtaking panoramas? The signposted Petites Randonnées itineraries are an excellent way to discover the region’s natural gems on your own, as a couple, with family or friends: the summit of Mont-Aigoual, Roc des Hourtous and Point Sublime face to face, Corniche des Cévennes, Château de Castelbouc, panoramas from Roc du Serre, Saltadou, Les Boisettes…

The canyon’s built heritage, in total harmony with its surroundings, is just as surprising. To admire the beauty of the old stones of Florac and Sainte-Enimie (Plus Beaux Villages de France), but also the timeless charm of the small hamlets of character in the Gorges (La Malène, Castelbouc, Meyrues, Ispagnac, Quezac…), there’s nothing better than guide maps and treasure hunts!

Visit the Gorges du Tarn tourist offices (Sainte-Enimie, Florac, Meyrueis, Ispagnac, La Malène) to choose your marked trails (43 itineraries of up to 6 hours each). And, of course, don’t forget the legendary GR hiking trails: Chemins de Stevenson, Saint-Guilheim, Urbain V… Oh, and one last thing: don’t forget your cameras!

Splash around in a river or jump into the water solo, with family or friends

Travelling to the Gorges du Tarn with children? Head straight for the Vallon du Villaret for an atypical nature adventure for young and old alike. On the program: walking on water, crossing the river like Tarzan, jumping rope into water jets…

Other ideas for tribes or those who have kept their childlike spirit: Explor’Games® at Cité de Pierres (Ispagnac), Dinopedia Parc (La Grand Combe), but also donkey rides on the discovery trail at Ferme des Cévennes, adventure parks and tree-top trails, visits to Caussen farms…

Not forgetting, of course, riverside relaxation and aquatic pleasures! Get your coolers, buckets and spades ready, and head for the Beaches of the Gorges: Basaltes, Castelbouc, Roc Blanc, Saint-Chély du Tarn… Last but not least, anyone who doesn’t canoe or paddle down the gorges is not a real tourist. This flagship activity is also a unique opportunity to discover 4 magnificent hamlets, accessible only on foot or by boat: Castelbouc, Hauterives, La Croze and La Sablière!

If your vacations in the Gorges du Tarn are synonymous with sport and thrills, you’ll want to get your adrenaline flowing again with gliding, bungee jumping, paragliding, slack-lining or canyoning in the wild river (Tapoul canyon)! Thrills and spills guaranteed!

Picture-postcard scenery that would make the most beautiful sites on the Côte d’Azur pale into insignificance. Suspended villages where time seems to stand still. Clear emerald waters. Astonishing geological fantasies at every turn… If you haven’t already booked your stay in the Gorges du Tarn, now’s the time! Azureva offers you a more than perfect welcome in the birthplace of the famous boatmen, on an exceptional stretch of the Gorges at the Hôtel des Bateliers in La Malène. You’ll also find our campsite in the Tarn.
